BUTUAN CITY – The Provincial Health Office in Agusan del Sur (PHO-ADS) has intensified its campaign to encourage residents to go out and get vaccinated during the three-day vaccination drive dubbed as “Bayanihan-Bakunahan” from November 29 to December 1.

Nanette Cabanos, the National Immunization Program Coordinator of the PHO-ADS, told the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday that efforts are being done to reach the daily coverage of 7,000 to 8,000 individuals during the three-day vaccination activity.

“As of November 22, our daily vaccination coverage is 5,489 individuals. We are eyeing around 7,000 to 8,000 individuals to be vaccinated daily from November 29 to December 1,” Cabanos said.

Agusan del Sur has a total target of 518,725 individuals for vaccination that comprise 70 percent of the 741,035 total population of the province.

Data from PHO-ADS said as of November 22, a total of 205,670 residents in the province have received their first dose of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines.

The number is 40 percent of the total target for vaccination coverage in the area.

In the same period, 145,493 individuals in the province have been fully vaccinated, or 28 percent of the total target.

“We are now focusing on our target as we need to reach out to over 300,000 individuals for vaccination until the end of this year,” Cabanos said.

She also recognized the full support of the provincial government and the local government units in Agusan del Sur to the vaccination program. (PNA)
