MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Law enforcers seized PHP13.6 million worth of shabu from a tricycle driver in a buy-bust in Barangay Tikay, in this city on Friday.

Col. Manuel M. Lukban, acting provincial director of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Abubakar Sandigan alias Kapatid, 31, a resident of Barangay 311, Quiapo, Manila.

“Sandigan was apprehended in the operation, which took place in front of Tikay Elementary School in Malolos City at around 1:35 a.m. by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under the command of P/Lt. Col. Christopher Leano,” Lukban said in a press conference.
He said the suspect was caught in the act of selling a sachet of shabu to a police poseur buyer while his cohort managed to elude arrest.

Ito ang magpapatunay na hindi na galing dito mismo sa Bulacan ang droga kundi nanggagaling na sa labas o sa Maynila (This proves that the illegal drugs came not from here in Bulacan but rather outside or in Manila),” Lukban said.

Confiscated from the suspect were two green plastic Chinese-labeled packs containing shabu, a mobile phone, and buy-bust money.

Sandigan will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, Police Region Office (PRO)-3 director, Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay Jr. said this is the largest operation against illegal drugs that occurred since he assumed the post on November 2.

He commended the Malolos City police for two successful anti-illegal drug operations that include the seizure of some PHP890,000 worth of shabu on November 22.

“It is proof that Bulacan police are relentless in their efforts in implementing intensified campaign against illegal drugs and pursuit of criminals and syndicates behind illegal drugs,” Baccay added. (PNA)
