Galvez confident to inoculate 9M in 3 days

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday expressed confidence the government can achieve its target of nine million jabs within the three-day national vaccination drive due to the public's warm reception.

In his visit on the second day of the "Bayanihan Bakunahan" at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here, Galvez said 2,554,000 individuals nationwide were vaccinated on November 29. 

The three-day massive vaccination drive will wind up on December 1.

"Bakuna at disiplina ang ating maging solusyon laban sa pandemya at bakuna ang pinakamagandang regalo sa ating sarili at sa ating bansa ngayong Pasko (Vaccination and discipline must be our solutions against the pandemic and vaccination is the most beautiful gift to ourselves and to our country this Christmas)," the Secretary said in his message.

Governor Daniel Fernando is likewise very positive the province will meet its target as it participates in the “Bayanihan Bakunahan: Ligtas. Lakas. Buong Pinas.” campaign of the national government.

The province has 98 jab sites eyeing 182,982 individuals during the three-day massive vaccination campaign.

"Gumaganda na ang ating buhay at ekonomiya, dagdagan pa natin ang ating panalangin para makabalik na tayo sa normal na buhay (Our lives and economy are getting better. Let us prayer more so that we could back to normal lives)," Fernando said.

The vaccination program welcomes walk-ins, aged 12 years old and above.

All Bulakenyos who still do not have their first dose, minors and adults going for their second dose, as well as booster shots will be accommodated, the provincial government said.

“Mas marami tayong mabakunahan, mas maganda para sa atin kaya inaanyayahan at hinihikayat natin ang mga Bulakenyo na hindi pa nababakunahan na samantalahin na ang pagkakataon na ito. Kahit po hindi kayo naka-rehistro, pwede po kayong tumuloy at kayo po ay haharapin ng ating mga frontliner (The more we vaccinate, the better for us. Thus, we are inviting and encouraging the unvaccinated Bulakenyos to take this opportunity. Even though you are still not register, you can come it and our front-liners will accommodate you),” Fernando said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hjordis Marushka B. Celis, director of Bulacan Medical Center, said that from 98 vaccination sites in the province, the immunization site located at the Provincial Government of Bulacan targets to vaccinate 1,000 persons per day while the 21 municipalities aim to vaccinate 144,498 individuals and the three cities eye to immunize 38,484 persons.

The inoculation site located in Hiyas Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center is for the children until December 1 while the one inside the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium is for adults until November 30.

Vaccination sites in each city and municipality in the province are posted on their official Facebook pages.

Moreover, the provincial government also distributed the Pamaskong Handog  (Christmas gift) package to all Bulakenyos who received their Covid-19 shots.

Aside from Galvez, those who visited the program in Bulacan were Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato de la Peña, Health Undersecretary Roger P. Tong-an, Health regional and provincial officials, and representatives from the World Health Organization and United Nations Children's Fund. (PNA)
