MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged 425 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, the lowest recorded since the height of the pandemic last year.
Based on DOH's latest monitoring, the active cases stand at 15,800 or 0.6 percent of the total confirmed cases since the pandemic started.
The positivity rate had also been below three percent for 10 straight days, pegged at only 2.1 percent on Tuesday based on the 24,442 individuals tested for Covid-19 last November 28.
Out of the total active cases, some 47.5 percent are mild, 5.3 percent asymptomatic, 6.8 percent critical, 16 percent severe, and 24.42 percent moderate.
The DOH also reported 909 recoveries and 44 new fatalities, raising the number of those who recuperated and those who died to 2,768,389 and 48,545, respectively.
While the number of infections continues to decrease, the DOH reminded the public to remain vigilant and continue following the minimum public health standards.
"Alalahanin na ang Covid-19 ay nasa paligid lamang natin, at ibayong pag-iingat, pagsunod sa minimum public health standard, pagtanggap ng bakuna ang ating kailangan upang mailigtas natin ang bawat isa sa sakit na ito (Remember that Covid-19 is still around us and we need to be vigilant. Following minimum public health standard and getting vaccinated are needed to avoid this disease)," it said.
Covid-19 patients currently occupy 26 percent of the 3,600 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 26 percent of the 19,800 isolation beds, and 16 percent of 13,200 ward beds nationwide.
Patients in Metro Manila, meanwhile, fill about 25 percent of the 1,300 ICU beds, 23 percent of the 4,700 isolation beds, and 21 percent of the 3,900 ward beds. (PNA)
