Rockets beat Pelicans 118-108 for 6th straight NBA win

ISTANBUL – Houston Rockets on Monday bagged a 118-108 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA to extend their winning streak to six matches.

The Pelicans tasted an away defeat despite the big performance from Brandon Ingram at Toyota Center. He scored a season-high 40 points for his team -- the most since scoring 40 points against Brooklyn in 2019.

New Orleans' centers Jonas Valanciunas and Willy Hernangomez made a double-double.

Valanciunas produced 17 points and 10 rebounds while Hernangomez came off the bench with 14 rebounds and 10 points.

Houston's German forward Daniel Theis finished with 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the field, Christian Wood netted 23 points and 8 rebounds.

Eric Gordon played with 23 points and 5 assists as Garrison Matthews scored 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Shooting guard Matthews, who didn't score since the second quarter, made a 3-pointer with 18.1 seconds left to extend his side lead to a 118-108 score.

With this victory, 13th-place Houston Rockets have a 7-16 win-loss in the West standings.
