46K Covid-19 recoveries recorded in Zamboanga Peninsula

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9) has so far recorded 46,000 recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), or a 93.34-percent recovery rate since the start of the pandemic last year.

In a report Friday, the Department of Health-9 said the region has tallied a total of 49,277 cumulative cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 with 1,056 active cases and 2,221 deaths.

The DOH-9 data also showed that Zamboanga City recorded the highest number of collective confirmed cases with 22,130 although it has also registered the highest recoveries with 20,826.

The confirmed cases in other parts of the region include Zamboanga del Sur with 11,376; Zamboanga del Norte, 10,284; Zamboanga Sibugay, 4,117; and, Isabela City, 1,370.

Following Zamboanga City in the highest recovery is Zamboanga del Sur with 10,804 recovered patients.

The recoveries in other parts of the region are as follows: Zamboanga del Norte, 9,272; Zamboanga Sibugay, 3,876; and, Isabela City, 1,222.

The breakdown of the 2,221 deaths in the region is as follows: Zamboanga City, 992; Zamboanga del Norte, 527; Zamboanga del Sur, 442; Zamboanga Sibugay, 205; and, Isabela City, 55.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joshua Brillantes, DOH regional director, said Friday they are undertaking the necessary preparations for a second round of the National Vaccination Days (NVD) slated on December 15 to 17.

The DOH-9 vaccinated a total of 425,538 individuals in the region representing 93.18 percent of the target population of 456,654, during the first round of NVD from November 29 to December 1. (PNA)
