MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday clarified that it has no programs or financial assistance being implemented online or through social media platforms.

This as the DSWD received a report on Facebook page “DSWD registeration” posing as an accredited financial aid conduit.

"A bogus Facebook page, which is circulating online, posted a status, asking the public to register through a link in order to receive PHP10,000 financial assistance," the DSWD said in a news release.

The official DSWD Facebook account is @dswdserves that can be accessed via facebook.com/dswdserves and which has over 1.1 million followers.

The government agency uses the platform for announcements and updates on its various services and programs.

In June, DSWD also disowned Facebook accounts “DSWD Registration” and “DSWD SAP NEWS UPDATE” that offered ayuda (assistance).

Secretary Rolando Bautista was likewise the target of the bogus “Sec. Rolando Bautista for La Union Provincial Governor” account in October.

DSWD is already taking appropriate action and investigating fake posts.

The DSWD asked the public to practice caution when seeing unrealistic offers online and to report similar concerns to hotline 8888. (PR)
