Bulls' Zach LaVine enters into Covid-19 protocols

ISTANBUL – Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has entered the NBA's coronavirus health and safety protocols, insider Adrian Wojnarowski said on Sunday.

"The Bulls have nine healthy players for Tuesday's game vs. Detroit. One of the replacement players, Stanley Johnson, is in protocols. The Bulls need replacements for their replacements," Wojnarowski tweeted.

He added that Chicago could continue to sign players under hardship waiver.

LaVine, 26, made 27 appearances during the 2020-21 season, averaging 26.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists.

With LaVine, the Bulls have nine players in protocols, including Coby White, Javonte Green, DeMar DeRozan, Matt Thomas, Derrick Jones Jr., Ayo Dosunmu, Stanley Johnson, and Troy Brown Jr.

Durant scored season-high 51 points

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant scored a season-high 51 points as his team Brooklyn Nets toppled the Detroit Pistons, 116-104, in a Sunday NBA game.

Durant gave massive support to Brooklyn in this game that the Nets rested another team superstar James Harden.

The Nets earned their 19th win to lead the Eastern Conference. They have eight losses in the 2021-22 regular season.

Durant, a two-time NBA champion, displayed one of his best performances in Detroit as the 33-year-old forward previously scored at least 50 points six times in his 13-year NBA experience.

In addition to his 51 points, Durant made nine assists.

The Pistons were leading the game 91-86 by the end of the third quarter.

But the Durant-led Nets have shown significant performance in the fourth quarter against them at Little Caesars Arena as the visitors scored 30 points.

Durant scored from the free-throw line to make the score 102-92 for Brooklyn with 7:02 left. It was one of the turning points for the winners as the gap was double-digit after his score.

The Nets never looked back in the fourth period as Durant scored a jump shot to give his team a 16-point lead with 1:20 left to the buzzer, 116-100, their biggest lead in the match.

Home team Detroit racked up 13 points in the fourth quarter, so Brooklyn secured a 116-104 victory.

Nets point guard Patty Mills had 18 points against the Pistons and his teammate LaMarcus Aldridge added 15 points.

Detroit rookie Cade Cunningham tallied 26 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Frank Jackson scored 25 points for the Pistons, and teammate Saben Lee added 17.

In the next fixture, the Nets will host the Toronto Raptors from Canada on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Pistons will visit the Chicago Bulls on the same day with a 4-22 win-loss record.
