DAVAO CITY – The Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) has expressed elation over the latest PUBLiCUS Asia survey result showing its chairperson and presidential daughter Mayor Sara Z. Duterte emerging as the top pick among the vice-presidential aspirants.

In a statement on Monday night, the HNP cited that Mayor Sara has dominated the Pahayag Quarter 4 (PHYG-Q4) survey areas, with 54.8 percent of the 1,500 respondents randomly sampled choosing her as their preferred vice-presidential candidate.

In Mindanao, 78.6 percent of the respondents preferred Inday Sara as their vice-president.

Apart from that, the survey also showed Mayor Sara's running mate and former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos (BBM) as the leading preferred presidential candidate, with 51.9 percent of the respondents picking him.

PHYG-Q4 is an independent and non-commissioned poll conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia. The survey period ran from December 6 to December 10, 2021.

It is a nationwide purposive sampling survey comprising 1,500 respondents that were randomly drawn from a market research panel by the Singapore office of PureSpectrum, a US-based firm.

The sampling was guided by statistics generated from official Commission on Elections data.

“The survey results are humbling, and at the same time, encouraging," HNP Secretary-General Anthony del Rosario said.

He added that the result lets the party and all the organizations supporting the UniTeam to focus more on the pressing challenges the country is currently facing like the recovery from the impact of the pandemic.

"It shows that the BBM-Sara UniTeam continues to capture the hearts of the Filipino people," Del Rosario said.

Del Rosario said HNP is grateful for the thousands of groups supporting the candidacy of their party chairperson and Marcos.

"We would like to thank every Filipino who is supporting the vice-presidential candidacy of our chairperson, Mayor Inday Sara, and BBM, her presidential candidate. We are urging everyone to continue with your support and join our cause up to the finish line," he added.

The BBM-Sara UniTeam has recently been holding caravans around the country, meeting local officials and organizations supporting their bid in the 2022 elections. (PNA)
