12.2K families preemptively evacuated due to 'Odette'

MANILA – A total of 12,237 families have so far been preemptively evacuated in regions in the path of Typhoon Odette, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.

In its 8 a.m. update, the agency said this figure is equivalent to 45,383 individuals. This can be broken down into 4,615 families from Eastern Visayas and another 7,622 from Caraga.

The NDRRMC also reported that 3,891 passengers, along with 1,745 rolling cargoes, 22 vessels, and three motorbancas were stranded in Calabarzon, Region 5, Region 6, Region 8, and the Caraga region.

Around 36 ports were earlier reported non-operational or have suspended trips due to the weather disturbance.

However, 10 of these ports, all in Bicol, now have resumed operations.

Meanwhile, one rain-induced landslide was reported in Eastern Visayas. (PNA)
