DAVAO CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority in the Davao region (PSA-11) has agreed to hold a Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration among employees of the Department of Justice-Parole and Probation Administration (DOJ-PPA-11) here.

In a post on December 10, the DOJ-PPA 11 said their employees, their families, and clients are the target beneficiaries of the registration activity.

DOJ-PPA 11 director Benjamin Cutay said the registration will start as soon as the needed preparations are completed.

“National ID system is geared towards uplifting the lives of Filipinos, and we support this program of the national government,” he said.

He assured the public that the DOJ-PPA will strictly observe minimum health protocols against the coronavirus disease 2019 during the registration process.

The PSA has been conducting institutional registration in government offices as part of its target to process the registration of at least 50 million Filipinos including resident aliens this year.

At the start of the PhilSys registration, the government targeted to prioritize the registration of those from the low-income sector in view of its aim to provide easy access to government assistance to the masses.

Currently, the PhilSys registration is catering to the general public, including minors.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.

It also seeks to boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government agencies where people will only need to present one ID during transactions. (PNA)
