MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Monday reported that the estimated cost of damage to government infrastructure caused by Typhoon Odette is at PHP308.9 million.
In a statement, the DPWH also said a total of eight national roads are still impassable to all types of vehicles in Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas, Soccsksargen, and Caraga as of 6 a.m. Monday.
The agency's Bureau of Maintenance (BOM) said these include the Puerto Princesa North Road, section in Langogan Bridge and another section in Barangay Langogan, Puerto Princesa City in Palawan due to landslide; Daang Maharlika in Southern Leyte due to landslide, debris, fallen trees, and electric posts; sections of Misamis Oriental - Bukidnon - Agusan Road in Barangay Siloo and Barangay San Luis in Malitbog, Bukidnon due to damage to the newly constructed spillway at Siloo Bridge and series of soil collapse.
Also impassable are the Butuan City - Cagayan de Oro City - Iligan City Road, Old Mambayaan Bridge due to damaged bridge; Sta. Filomena - Bonbonon - Digkilaan, Rogongon Road, Sitio Salinsing, Brgy. Rogongon, Iligan City due to landslide; Dinagat-Loreto Road to Mahayahay, San Jose, Dinagat Islands due to road slip; NRJ Bayugan-Calaitan-Tandag Road in Barangay Sto. Niño, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur due to road cut, sinking/collapsed pavement; Bayugan-Esperanza Road, Barangay Nato and Barangay Hawilian, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur due to flooding.
It added that five roads in Northern Mindanao and Caraga have limited access due to flooding, landslide, fallen trees and electric posts, damaged bridges, and soil collapse.
Meanwhile, a total of 29 roads have already been cleared and reopened by the DPWH Quick Response Teams from the Regional Offices and District Engineering Offices of affected areas since Dec. 16. (PNA)
