MANILA – The First Division of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has summoned presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (BBM) to answer the three disqualification cases filed against him.

“The Summons for the three cases filed against BBM have already been sent to the e-mail addresses of the Election Officers (EOs). The EOs were directed to print, personally serve the Summons to Respondent BBM, and to submit Affidavits of service,” said Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, a member of the First Division, in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“The Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) and Regional Election Director (RED) were also requested to ensure effective service of summons,” she added.

Upon receipt, the former senator has five days to submit his response to the poll body.

At the same time, Guanzon added that the preliminary conferences of the three cases have been scheduled for early next year.

“Also, the Preliminary Conferences of the said cases were set on January 7, 2022 (Friday),” she said.

The three disqualification cases were separately filed by petitioners Bonifacio Ilagan, Abubakar Mangelen and the group Akbayan.

Aside from Guanzon, the First Division is composed of Commissioners Marlon Casquejo and Aimee Ferolino. (PNA)
