ZAMBOANGA CITY – The City Health Office has inoculated a total of 70,406 individuals in the just-concluded three-day second round of the national vaccination drive (NVD) from December 20 to 22 in this city.

Data from the City Health Office released Friday showed the daily number of individuals inoculated in the three-day vaccination are as follows: 21,077, December 20; 27,851, December 21; and, 21,478, December 22.

The number of individuals vaccinated in the three-day NVD was three times more than the target of 20,112.

The data showed that 16,833 of the 21,077 vaccinees received their second dose of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines on December 20, while the remaining 4,244 got their first dose.

Of the total vaccines administered on December 21, the second day of the NVD, 23,522 got their second dose while the remaining 4,329 got their first dose.

Some 17,927 of the 21,478 individuals vaccinated on the third day, December 22, got their second dose, while the remaining 3,551 got their first dose.

The City Health Office activated 41 vaccination centers for the second round of the NVD. These centers were placed in shopping malls, schools, health centers, hospitals, and offices.

Dubbed as “Bayanihan, Bakunahan,” the second national vaccination was originally scheduled for December 15 to 17 but was moved to December 20 to 22 due to Typhoon “Odette” that struck many parts of Visayas and Mindanao on December 16.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, on Friday expressed her heartfelt gratitude to those who helped in the successful conduct of the second round of the NVD. (PNA)
