KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato - The Department of Public Works and Highways in Soccsksargen (DPHW-12) officially turned over the PHP25-million Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office building to the city government here Wednesday.

"We target this facility to be fully utilized within the first semester of 2022," said Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista in his message during the program.

Also in attendance were North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco; North Cotabato 2nd District Representative Rudy Caoagdan, National Economic Development Authority -12 Asst. Director Carmel Matabang; Engr. Rey Francisco of the DPWH Cotabato 2nd District Engineering Office, and Liezel Anne Decrepito of DFA General Santos City.

The three-story facility was constructed at the city government-owned lot along Alim Street, Barangay Poblacion, near the overland terminal for easy access by clients from the city and adjacent provinces.

It was funded under the Countrywide Development Fund of Congressman Caoagdan.

Catamco, during her speech, said the provincial government and the DAF consular office will jointly provide the needed amenities to guarantee the safety and convenience of all its staff and clients.

"We will provide the office facilities to make sure that the services will never be hindered and run smoothly in the desired given time,” Catamco said.

The DFA is the second national-line agency to have set up an office here after the National Bureau of Investigation opened its satellite branch, also inside the overland terminal complex, in 2016. (PNA)
