SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The pay-out for 701 family-beneficiaries affected by Typhoon Odette in the municipality of Libertad is ongoing.
Cherryl P. Tacda, provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Antique, said in an interview Tuesday that Libertad, the province’s northernmost town, was allotted PHP21 million cash assistance by the national government.
“Libertad is the first to release the cash aid, which had been downloaded by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) directly to the local government units (LGUs),” she said.
She added that before 2021 has ended, the DBM has downloaded PHP121.915 million to 18 local government units in Antique to be used as assistance for typhoon-affected families.
“A family beneficiary is given a maximum of PHP5,000 each,” she said.
She said PHP1,000 is given per individual with a maximum of PHP5,000 per family belonging to the low-income bracket and affected by "Odette" on Dec. 17, 2021.
In a separate interview, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Antique provincial office head Melrose Amaran urged LGUs to submit their final list of affected constituents to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWDO) and copy furnished their regional office so no families will be left out in the provision of assistance.
From the list, they could determine those who have not received assistance that was downloaded by the DBM.
The list to be submitted to the PSWDO and the DSWD has to bear the signatures of the Municipal SWDO, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, and the local chief executive. (PNA)
