MANILA – The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration transaction slip should be kept safe to ensure personal information will remain confidential, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said in its advisory issued on  Friday late afternoon.

The PSA reminded the public not to post the transaction slip on any social media platform.

Upon the delivery of the PhilID card, the transaction slip with any valid ID must be presented to the courier, the advisory added.

"Ang inyong transaction slip ay mahalaga para masiguro na maibibigay ang PhilID sa tamang may-ari (Your transaction slip is important to make sure the PhilID will be delivered to the rightful owner)," the PSA said.

The PHLPost, the PSA's official courier partner, will attempt to deliver the PhilID three times, directly to the owner's home address, free of charge.

Unreceived PhilIDs will be brought to the designated Post Office nearest to the card owner's home address and can be claimed within 30 days.

The PSA noted the transaction slip contains private information of the registrants.

Through PhilSys, the Philippines can move away from inefficient and expensive physical documents, processes, and credentials.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrolment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.

It will also boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government services as people will only need to present the ID during transactions. (PNA)
