MANILA – Law enforcers have arrested two suspects and confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP40.8 million in a buy-bust operation in Makati City on Wednesday evening.

In a report released on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, chief of the Philippine National Police - Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), said the suspects – Bryan Salceda, 26, and Jerome Gaje, 27 – were arrested during the buy-bust in an apartment along Hilario St. in Barangay Palanan at about 7:30 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects were 6 kg. of suspected shabu wrapped in Chinese tea bags.

Meanwhile, PNP-DEG Acting Deputy Director for Operations, Col. Roel Rodolfo, said the operation is a continuing effort to eradicate drugs before the end of President Rodrigo Duterte’s term.

The operation came just a day after members of the Southern Police District seized 2 kg. of suspected shabu, valued at PHP13.6 million, and arrested 21-year-old suspect Aldren Mariscal in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rodolfo also said further investigation is ongoing to catch the cohorts of the three arrested suspects and determine the source of the seized contraband.

The suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while the pieces of evidence seized in the operation were brought to the PDEG in Camp Crame for documentation. (PNA)
