MANILA – The Electoral Board (EB) Certification portal developed by the Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) will be deployed to end users by March.

Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said in a taped report on Friday the DOST deemed it necessary to automate the usual certification process because of restrictions on face-to-face activities due to the pandemic.

The portal will conduct an online written examination for the certification of teachers who will serve in the May 9 national and local elections.

The DOST has been carrying out the certification of EBs for the elections since 2007.

De la Peña said the EB Certification portal was subjected to load and stress testing from January 17 to 24.

On January 25, DOST and the Commission on Elections signed a memorandum of agreement for the portal’s use.

"Certifiers from the 16 DOST regional offices, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), other DOST agencies, and state universities and colleges conducted the system performance testing to identify possible issues such as system bugs, downtime behavior, and server specifications to handle large group requests," de la Peña said.

He added the system test will also ensure that the portal meets the passing evaluation ratio of the ISO 9126 software system testing standards. (PNA)
