ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city health office (CHO) reported Thursday a slight decrease in the active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here.

The decline was particularly noted between January 31 and February 1, when cases dropped by 52 from 2,683 to 2,631.

The CHO said this came about as 133 new recoveries were recorded and 88 new cases were registered on February 1.

“We hope that the decreasing trend will continue,” CHO chief Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite said in a statement.

However, she said the death toll increased to 1,152 as an additional seven new deaths were reported.

As of February 1, the city has a total of 27,068 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 23,285 recoveries, 2,631 active cases, and 1,152 deaths.

Data showed that 72 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic, 25.6 percent with mild symptoms; 1.8 percent, moderate; 0.4 percent, severe; and 0.2 percent, critical.

Miravite advised the public anew to continue complying with the minimum health standards and to avoid the “3Cs” - closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings. (PNA)
