MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has transported 3,928.7 tons of relief goods and other important supplies to areas affected by Typhoon Odette last December.

“PCG vessels and air assets have transported a total of 1,883.3 tons of goods, while PCGA (PCG Auxiliary) aircraft and private vessels that are part of the said mission have ferried 2,045.4 tons of supplies,” the PCG said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

PCG District Northeastern Mindanao (CGDNEM) personnel distributed meals and vitamins to residents of Sitio Looc, Barangay Ipil in Surigao City on “Valentine’s Day” on Monday.

“This is also to alleviate the psychological health of the victims by slowly reducing the trauma of the victims of typhoon Odette, especially the children,” the PCG said.

The transportation of relief goods by the PCG is under PCG “Task Force Kalinga” and is in line with the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to help the areas severely affected by “Odette”.

Under the task force, the PCG and other partners in the government and private sectors have used assets and resources to help in the recovery of typhoon-stricken regions such as Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga. (PNA)
