CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Tourism in Northern Mindanao (DOT-10) and Smart Communications have tapped content creators to promote tourist destinations in the region.
In a statement on Wednesday, the DOT-10 and Smart launched “the 10.10 #LimitlessAdventures Tiktok Challenge," a campaign to boost domestic tourism hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
DOT-10 Director Marie Elaine Unchuan lauded Smart for its consistent support in promoting Northern Mindanao.
“Smart is a big part of the success of the program, and we look forward to more collaborations with them, especially in our social media marketing and sustainable tourism promotions,” she said.
With Smart’s 5G network expansion in Region 10, content creators have been able to showcase their creativity.
“I was able to explore the beauty of Region 10 and share this not only with my loved ones but also with the world. With Smart, I can share the limitless adventures that Region 10 has to offer,” destinations category winner Eden Felicilda.
Kemberly Amay, who placed third in the food category, thanked DOT for the opportunity and Smart for expanding its network and supporting tourism.
"Joining the contest was also about winning the hearts of local and foreign travelers, and encouraging them to discover the beauty and wonders of Northern Mindanao," she said.
Since 2012, Smart has been promoting the use of technology in aid of tourism. Through the company’s Digital Tourism program, Smart is working with technology startup, Innopub Media, local government units, and church organizations to harness technology in delivering key tourism, cultural and historical information to mobile users.
“We believe technology and connectivity are essential as we start to revive local tourism. Stories about hidden hometown gems will encourage local travel. We are happy to partner with DOT Region 10,” Smart’s Corporate Communications Manager Judee Caroline Chaves said. (PNA)
