MANILA – Partido Federal ng Pilipinas presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte held a day-long campaign sortie to woo the vote-rich Caloocan City on Saturday.

The activities started with a morning motorcade around the city and culminated in a grand campaign rally in north Caloocan around 8 p.m.

The tandem was endorsed by incumbent Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, who is also running for congressman of the city's 1st district.

During his speech, Marcos reiterated his call for the nation to unite, saying this is the way to achieve a brighter future for the Filipino people.

Marcos said he will focus on strengthening the agriculture sector and helping micro, small and medium-sized enterprises bounce back.

He also plans to revive the pandemic-hit tourism industry, among others.

"Kailangan natin ang tulong ng lahat... Sa aking palagay ay napakalaki ng problema, kailangan natin na tayong lahat ay magkaisa upang sabay-sabay na harapin kung anumang hamon na darating sa Pilipinas (We need the help of everyone... I think we have a big problem here in the country, we need to unite so that we can face any adversity that may come)," he said.

Duterte, meanwhile, vowed to continue the programs initiated by her father President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, including “Build, Build, Build” and campaign against crime and illegal drugs.

"We commit na ipagpatuloy ang mga reporma na nagawa ni Pangulong Duterte sa ating bansa (to continue the reforms initiated by President Duterte for our country)," she said.

If elected, the presidential daughter said she will also work hard to provide Filipinos a "peaceful life" and treat everyone whether rich or poor equally. (PNA)
