CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – A drug suspect was killed while two others escaped arrest in joint law enforcement operations in Pikit, North Cotabato, a top military official said Monday.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force (JTF)-Central commander, identified the slain drug suspect as Mosim Manebped Dalanda known by the aliases "Takuwad" and "Datu Dalanda".

Two other suspects, Ibrahim Dingga alias Ebra, and Jerry Sanagandigan, eluded arrest during Saturday night's joint police and military operation for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Uy said the two abandoned their respective hideouts in Barangay Macabual, Pikit, and fled upon seeing the joint military and police team.

He said a firefight ensued as Dalanda opened fire while the troops were approaching his hideout in Sitio Galigayan, which resulted in the death of suspect.

Dalanda’s remains were turned over to his relatives for burial rites according to Islamic tradition.

He said the troops recovered from Dalanda’s hideout an AR-15 rifle with a long steel magazine and 22 rounds of 5.56-millimeter ammunition. (PNA)
