SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) urges Antiqueños to avail of the ongoing mobile registration for the Philippine Identification (PhilID) as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) eyes to reach 200,000 more this year.

PSA Antique officer-in-charge Randy Tacogdoy, in a virtual press conference on Monday, said that they have registered 421,548 so far.

“We don’t know until when the mobile registration will be so it would really be advisable that the people avail of it right in their localities,” he said

Four mobile registration teams go around the province so registrants no longer have to go to the PSA provincial office in San Jose de Buenavista town.

Currently, the mobile teams are in the towns of Tobias Fornier, Valderrama, and San Remigio and will transfer to Caluya next week.

They coordinate with the local government units for the schedules so residents will be properly informed.

The PSA Antique provincial office holds registration from 8 a.m. up to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Meanwhile, at least 118,000 PhilID cards have been delivered by the Philippine Postal Corporation throughout the province.

Twenty were returned since the owners could no longer be located in the addresses indicated.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity and a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and opening of bank accounts.

It will also boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government services where people will only need to present one ID during transactions. (PNA)
