BUTUAN CITY – A cooperative in Cantilan town in Surigao del Sur received on Monday a refrigerated van that will be used in the delivery of products to market centers.
In a statement, the Department of Agriculture – Caraga (DA – 13) said it has formally turned over to the CarCanMadCarLan Agri-based Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPCO) a PHP2.7 million worth of refrigerated van.
“The challenge for the preservation of quality for the milkfish products of CAMPCO is no longer an issue with the turnover of the refrigerated van to the cooperative,” the DA-13 said.
The agency added that the intervention for CAMPCO was put up under the DA’s Enhanced Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Inclusive Food Supply Chain package or the Kadiwa program in short.
The facility was formally handed over in a ceremony in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur by DA-13 Regional Technical Director Nicandro Navia Jr., and DA-13 Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division Chief Lyn Pareñas.
Dr. Christopher Buniel, the CAMPCO manager, received the donation.
“With the provision of the refrigerated van, we can now assure our clients of the best quality of our products from farm to markets,” Buniel said.
He also thanked the DA-13 for the support they received which he said will further strengthen the production and marketing aspects of their cooperative.
"This refrigerated van will boost and enhance our operations. In terms of employment, we can now employ additional people to operate this vehicle," Buniel said.
One of the main businesses of CAMPCO is the delivery of milkfish products to its clients in the towns of Carmen, Cantilan, Madrid, Carrascal, Lanuza (CarCanMadCarLan), and other areas in Surigao del Sur. (PNA)
