Valenzuela buy-bust nets P1.1-B shabu; suspects nabbed

MANILA – Police and anti-narcotics agents seized PHP1.1 billion worth of shabu from a Chinese national and his Filipino cohort in a buy-bust operation in Valenzuela City on Tuesday.

According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) report, the suspects were identified as Tianzhu Lyu of Fujian, China and Meliza Villanueva of Concepcion, Tarlac.

Authorities confiscated 160 kilograms of shabu when they arrested the two suspects along JP Rizal St., Arty Subdivision in Barangay Karuhatan, Valenzuela City around 3:30 p.m.

Aside from shabu, the anti-narcotics teams also confiscated identification cards and three cellular phones.

Lyu and Villanueva face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’

The PDEA said both Lyu and Villanueva are high value targets (HVT). (PNA)
