Presidential aspirant Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte
MANILA – Various volunteer organizations have joined the Caraga Region's Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas in supporting Presidential aspirant Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte in the coming May 2022 elections.
This developed as the IM Pilipinas, one of the largest volunteer networks for Domagoso, officially launched “ISAng PILIPINAS” Caraga on Tuesday to serve as an umbrella organization of groups from Mindanao supporting Domagoso and Duterte.
In a statement Wednesday, IM Pilipinas Caraga Regional Convenor Alain Buque said "overwhelming" support continues to push for the Isko-Sara tandem.
"People from all walks of life including businessmen, sectoral groups, fraternity, and brotherhood associations and our less privileged kababayans (countrymen) have joined us in this event of support for the tandem,” he added.
Buque said the launch of the IM Pilipinas was the result of the massive support of Mindanaons for Domagoso and Duterte.
He added that the spirit of volunteerism was evident in each of their events where supporters use their own resources to deliver victory for the Isko-Sara tandem.
Ernesto Palaran, president of the Butuan Basurero Association, believed that people belonging to their sector will get enough attention and assistance once the Isko-Sara tandem wins this year's election.
“Kami po ay lubos na naniniwala sa kakayahan at sinseridad ni Yorme Isko Moreno na lilingunin niya ang mga katulad namin na payak ang pamumuhay. Alam naman po natin na siya mismo ay nagmula rin sa katulad na uri ng aming pamumuhay (We really believe in the ability and sincerity of Mayor Isko Moreno that he will pay attention to us who live a simple life. We know that he himself came from where we are),” Palaran said.
He added that both candidates have laid down programs that suit the needs of the Filipino people.
“Naniniwala rin po kami na mas epektibong maipatutupad ang mga nakalatag na programa ni Yorme kung si Inday Sara Duterte ang katuwang niya sa pamamahala sa ating bayan (We also believe that the laid down platforms of Mayor Isko will be effectively implemented if Sara Duterte will be his partner in governing the country),” he added.
Various multi-sectoral groups from the Muslim community, vendors, indigenous people, businessmen, Butuan Basurero Association, women, LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer), youth, senior citizens, Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, Zeta Phi Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Rho, and ANO Fraternity and Sorority, were also campaigning for Domagoso and Duterte.
"ISAng Pilipinas vowed to rally all well-meaning forces, from the Left of Center to the Right of Center of the political spectrum, under the banner of people-centered national development and in the spirit of respect, collaboration, and dynamic initiatives, as a parallel campaign organization and movement," the statement read.
Domagoso has his own running mate, Dr. Willie Ong, under the Aksyon Demokratiko while Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., has adopted and endorsed Duterte. (PNA)
