MANILA – Two Chinese nationals yielded PHP20.4 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City shortly before midnight Wednesday.

In a report released Thursday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said suspects Shiliang Zeng, 49, and Jack Lee, 44, were arrested during the buy-bust inside a hotel along Mary Street, in Barangay E. Rodriguez, Quezon City at about 11:30 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects were three kilos of shabu wrapped in Chinese tea bags, two cellular phones, identification cards, a bundle of documents, and boodle money.

The suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while the pieces of evidence seized in the operation were brought to the PDEA main headquarters for documentation.

The operation came just a day after authorities seized PHP1.1 billion worth of shabu from another Chinese national Tianzhu Lyu and his Filipino cohort Meliza Villanueva in Valenzuela City on Tuesday.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva said law enforcers have seized a total of PHP1.57 billion worth of shabu in the first eight days of March alone. (PNA)
