PDEA nabs 12 persons in 2 drug dens in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – Authorities here arrested 12 persons and dismantled two drug dens in twin anti-drug operations in two villages here, the regional anti-narcotics official reported on Friday.

Levi Ortiz, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Region 7 regional director, said the operations led to the arrest of two known drug den maintainers and seizure of illegal drugs believed to be shabu worth about PHP143,000.

Agents of PDEA-7, along with the Cebu Provincial Police Office’s Intelligence Unit and Cebu City Police Office Station 6 dismantled Thursday afternoon the drug den in Barangay Calamba and arrested its operator, Marlon Langamen, 47.

Apart from Langamen, also arrested were seven drug den visitors -- Earl Kerbee Manila, 28; Maricar P. Caballero, 25; Cheryl Donayre, 23; Cherrymae Gulfan, 26; Ericnaldo Cuizon, 48: Julius Perez, 46; and Archie Ursal, 24.

On Thursday night, PDEA-7 agents arrested Jonard Calapini, 30, on Salvador Extension, Barangay Labangon, and dismantled the drug den he maintained in the area.

Three visitors in Calapini’s drug den -- Welner Lucero, 23; John Paul Del Abella, 25; and Kenneth Autentico, 23– were also arrested in the operation.

In Calamba, the agents seized five packs of suspected shabu weighing around 11 grams with an estimated market value of PHP74,800; while in Labangon, they confiscated 17 packs of suspected shabu weighing around 10 grams worth PHP68,000.

The suspects will be charged with the violation of R.A. 9165. (PNA)
