BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology in Caraga (DICT-13) continues to strengthen the internet literacy of residents in the region through a series of seminars and other forms of information dissemination drives.
In a statement Tuesday, DICT-13 said a one-day webinar on Internet Media and Information Literacy (IMIL) on March 23 is open to residents in Caraga Region.
“The conduct of the webinar is vital as the usage of the internet becomes more relevant, especially in this time of the pandemic,” DICT-13 said.
DICT-13 said the activity aims to provide a better understanding for the residents on the uses and benefits of the internet, especially in communications through email and social media.
The participants to the webinar will also be guided on the access of information and services through the use of search engines and e-services on the internet.
“It is important for residents to understand the ways of protecting and securing data and information, and know the proper behavior in using the Internet, especially on social media platforms,” DICT-13 said.
The webinar will be facilitated by Engineer II Lovielyn Quiling of the agency's Free-WiFi-4-All Project. (PNA)
