MANILA – A total of 2,583 jail officers of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nationwide were promoted to their next higher rank on Wednesday.

BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral administered the simultaneous oath-taking of the 2,528 Jail Non-Officer Rank (JNOR) and 55 Jail Officer Rank (JOR) in a virtual ceremony at the BJMP headquarters in Quezon City.

The JNORs are composed of 92 Senior Jail Officer 4 (SJO4), 124 Senior Jail Officer 3 (SJO3), 150 Senior Jail Officer 2 (SJO2), 229 Senior Jail Officer 1 (SJO1), 609 Jail Officer 3 (JO3), and 1,324 Jail Officer 2 (JO2) while the JORs are composed of 8 Jail Superintendents (JSupt), 13 Jail Chief Inspectors (JCInsp), 1 Jail Senior Inspector (JSInsp), and 33 Jail Inspectors (JInsp).

Iral commended the jail officers for their well-deserved promotion and recognized their hard work and dedication amid the pandemic.

During the pandemic, we have proven what you can do and sacrifice for the call of service. So for our part, we want to speed up the processing of your promotion because you are all eligible for it),” Iral said.

He also encouraged the newly promoted personnel to be good examples to their colleagues and to continue being passionate in their respective designations.

He urged them to foster a workplace where every member of the BJMP is challenged to do their best in everything.

“Let us build our people up, enable them to make things happen, support their initiatives, and be good models for them. An empowered human resource is what will bring our organization to becoming our vision,” he added. (PNA)
