More celebrities back Isko's presidential bid

MANILA – The show of support and call for a positive campaign by gamers, video content creators, and social media personalities snowballs as more celebrities have thrown their support behind Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso’s presidential bid in the May elections.

Actress, commercial model, and former host of GMA Network Arriane Bautista said she witnessed first-hand Domagoso’s hard work in bringing change to the City of Manila despite his short term as mayor.

She appealed to the public to respect her decision, in the same way, that she respects their own preferences.

“I respect your candidate and I hope you respect mine. Yung nakita at naramdaman namin ang kaniyang serbisyo sa aming lugar (I saw and felt his service in our community). And I chose him kasi siya mismo ay nakaranas ng paghihirap (because he himself experienced being poor). Alam niya ang pagiging mahirap. Alam niya ang feeling ng mga hindi napapansin (He knows how it feels to be poor. He knows the feeling of the neglected),” Bautista said.

Model and host Christine Samson, on the other hand, said she believes the incumbent Manila mayor is the best man for the job owing to his background, success story rising from poverty and his sincerity in serving the poor.

“It is our responsibility to choose a leader (who) does what they speak. I chose a leader who knows what the people need hindi lang sa mga nangangailangan, kundi sa nakakarami at buong bansa (not only of the needy but also of the majority and of the whole country),” Samson said.

Actor and social media influencer Jericho Arceo said Mayor Isko is simply a game-changer with his pandemic response, financial assistance, housing projects, and health care system for the people of Manila and nearby areas.

Hindi ko pinipilit ang sa akin. Dito lang tayo magsasama. Yung track record, may character, competence at higit sa lahat may takot sa Diyos. Bago naman! (I'm not forcing my candidate to anybody. Let's be together here. The track record, character and competence and fear of God) God First!,” he said, adding that he doesn’t meddle in politics until he saw what Domagoso has accomplished during the last two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Instagram star and model Keana Louise de Leon said she has been seen a lot of politicians growing but later turned jaded.

De Leon said it was different with Mayor Isko because when the latter presented his priorities and 10-point agenda if elected president, she has high hopes that Domagoso will bring what the country and its people need.

Kaya this coming election, masasabi ko na proud na (Many have aspired. Many have promised. Many just showed off. I want real change -- not just words but real action. We need a simple government that will be able to uplift the lives of Filipinos. We don't need an extravagant government. What we need is someone who will be able to defend and secure us from any calamity. So for this coming election, I can proudly say that) #IskoAko!,” she added.

Celebrities such as singer-comedian-host KitKat, actress and StarStuck finalist Diva Montelaba, and social media influencer KimShy Moves also expressed full support for Domagoso’s presidential bid. (PR)
