MANILA – The processing of applications for registration and renewal of firearms licenses continues despite the election gun ban, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.

In a press briefing in Camp Crame, Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) chief Brig. Gen. Alden Delvo said they have in fact streamlined the application process.

“Those applying for the issuance of registration for firearm licenses and those who have expired licenses and registration can apply. They can easily apply online. Fewer people are buying firearms because we cannot release permits due to the gun ban. They can still buy but the release of permits will be after the election gun ban,” Delvo said.

He said the FEO has adopted a new online system that is more user-friendly, accessible, and secure which involves seven easy steps:

-- Create an online account through www.feo-system.com

-- Proceed to the one-stop-shop or the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU) in the region for actual evaluation and uploading of required documents. Applicants may proceed for the neuropsychiatric test or drug testing.

-- Applications filed will be submitted for screening of online evaluators.
-- Applications that will pass screening will be endorsed to the FEO chief for final approval.

-- Applicants will receive a notice of payment that will be sent to their FEO online account. Payments can be made online or through the Land Bank of the Philippines.
-- Proofs of payment will be uploaded to the applicants' FEO online account where they will be asked either to pick it up or have it delivered.

-- The licenses will be printed and released.

Under the new system, the applications can be completed in less than a day, provided all the requirements are valid and complete.

Likewise, clients will receive an SMS notification after every transaction to inform them of the status of their application.

The PNP's Civil Security Group has established courtesy lounges at all regional civil security units nationwide which are intended to provide convenient and quality services.

These lounges likewise have fast lanes to accommodate senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), incumbent, appointed or elected government officials, and retired personnel of the uniformed services. (PNA)
