DAVAO CITY – A political group in Davao del Sur has pledged their full support to UniTeam’s presidential bet Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and vice-presidential aspirant Mayor Sara Duterte.

In a statement Friday, BARUG (Binag-ong Administration, Responsable ug maUswagong panGobyerno) Davao del Sur vowed to “do everything” in ensuring the victory of the tandem who are gunning for the country’s top posts.

Gubernatorial candidate Carl Jason Rama Bautista, the lead convenor of BARUG, said his group’s direction is aligned with the UniTeam’s advocacy, particularly in uniting the Filipinos.

“We will do everything for this tandem to win. We will give our full support to Marcos and Duterte for they can lead and unite the country,” Bautista said.

He said BARUG advocates for bureaucratic reforms in the province and gives more privileges to the people.

Meanwhile, Bautista said Marcos and Duterte’s "heart for the poor" has set them apart from other candidates.

“They have a heart for the poor. The poor clamor for change and a new breed of leaders who will run the country," he said.

As part of their Davao Region sorties, UniTeam visited the province on Wednesday where the tandem and their senatorial bets and the BARUG provincial slate were received by a mammoth crowd in Barangay Tres de Mayo, Digos City.

Before the huge number of supporters in Davao del Sur who attended UniTeam's grand rally, Duterte vowed to carry Marcos to victory in Mindanao in the May 9 elections.

“The Ilocano and Tagalog voters promised that Bisaya will win in their areas. We, the Bisaya, promise that Ilocano will win in our area,” he said. (PNA)
