NCRPO seizes P432-M worth of illegal drugs in March

MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confiscated about PHP432 million worth of suspected illegal drugs and arrested about 2,010 persons in more than 1,077 operations in March.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad said Wednesday the police also cleared 719 barangays of illegal drugs, equivalent to 42.19 percent out of more than 1,709 barangays.

“The intensification of our anti-illegal drug campaign to attain our vision of a drug-free community for all is one of the key(s) towards the realization of our goal of keeping Metro Manila safe, peaceful, and secured," Natividad said. "We have been in the headway of our campaign. We are getting closer to helping PDEA in the clearing of a number of barangas in anti-illegal drugs operations."

Of those arrested in March, 563 were most-wanted persons.

"During the period, NCRPO was able to recover 160 firearms with the arrest of 150 persons as a result of the intensified measures to address the proliferation of illegal firearms in (the) NCR," he said.

Meanwhile, police arrested 1,721 persons and confiscated PHP297,811 worth of bets in 582 illegal gambling operations from March 1 to 31. (PNA)
