SAN GABRIEL, La Union – A tourist attraction here, Tangadan Falls, will soon be accessible to visitors with the ongoing construction of access roads at Barangay Bucao in this town.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional public information officer Esperanza Tinaza said roads are constructed under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP).
“The ongoing activities include roadway common excavation, embankment, and installation of stone masonry,” she said.
Some PHP119 million has been allotted for the completion of the access roads intended to provide a safe, durable, and convenient driving experience leading to the tourist spot, she added.
“A 0.400-lane kilometer access road has been initially completed by the DPWH La Union First District Engineering Office, led by district engineer Jose Ginete Jr.,” Tinaza said.
She added the initial construction included the Portland cement concrete pavement, crib wall, and stone masonry to ensure that traversing residents will experience smooth travel experiences and are safeguarded from cliff hazards.
“The initial phase of the project amounted to PHP18.2 million funded under TRIP of the Department of Tourism (DOT) fiscal year 2021 and implemented through DPWH Convergence and Special Support Program (CSSP),” Tinaza said.
Tangadan Falls has become famous for its scenic beauty and has caught the attention of adventure and thrill-seekers as it provides a perfect diving spot. (PNA)
