ZAMBOANGA CITY – Manila Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer, Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, has vowed to address Mindanao's power supply problem, promising to lower costs under his administration.

Lawyer Robbie Pierre Roco, Aksyon Demokratiko party vice president, said Friday Moreno will cut the tax for power and fuel by as much as 50 percent to bring down the cost of electricity.

“In Mindanao, the power supply is the problem. Mayor Isko will not only solve this, but he will also provide dependable, reliable, and low-cost electricity,” Roco said in a press conference.

“Yes, the government income will shrink, but the benefits to the people will be felt,” he added.

In effect, Roco said the tax cuts would also lessen the prices of commodities, and transport costs would decrease as well.

With Moreno as Manila mayor, he said the city rebounded from bankruptcy and even managed to save funds even before the pandemic was declared.

“A problem-solver, a crisis manager, that is Mayor Isko Moreno. He had done it in Manila, he will do it in the entire country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Roco said there are good chances that Moreno’s rating will increase with the way the campaign is going.

“We are optimistic about that since when the people approach Isko there are genuine smiles on their faces,” Roco said.

He said they will study to understand how the survey is being done because it seems it does not reflect the true sentiments of the people.

Moreno and his running mate, Dr. Willie Ong, and some of their senatorial aspirants left the city Friday morning for campaign sorties in other regions. (PNA)
