STA. IGNACIA, Tarlac – Governor Susan Yap on Saturday called on her fellow Tarlaceños to support the vice presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The reelectionist governor, who is running unopposed, also thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for always making sure that the province’s needs are met.

“Dito sa Tarlac, taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa kanilang pamilya. Dahil kahit papaano, bumuhos ang nga proyekto dito, at alam ng mga mayors natin yan (Here in Tarlac, we express our sincerest gratitude to their family. Because somehow projects poured in here, and our mayor knows that),” Yap said before some 3,000 people who attended the Joint Town Clustered Meeting at the Sta. Ignacia Auditorium here.

The attendees came from the towns of Sta. Ignacia, Camiling, Mayantoc, and San Clemente.

“Hindi pa po humihingi ng tulong ang aming lugar, pero ang kanyang ama, si President Rodrigo Duterte, ay agad tumawag at tinanong: “Anong tulong ang aming mabibigay? (Our area has yet to ask assistance, but her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, immediately called and asked: ‘What kind of assistance we can give?),” she added.

Yap had endorsed the presidential and vice presidential tandem of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte after the UniTeam ticket’s campaign rally in Paniqui town on April 2.

Tarlac is the home province of the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., the political rival of Marcos’ father, former president Ferdinand Marcos.

Yap said the vote-rich province will be behind the ticket’s victory.

“Kaya mga kababayan ko dito sa Tarlac, I ask you na tulungan at suportahan natin ang tunay na may tapang at malasakit -- Mayor Sara Duterte -- ang ating susunod na bise-presidente (My province-mates here in Tarlac, I ask you to help and support those who have the real courage and compassion -- Mayor Sara Duterte -- our next vice president),” Yap said.

After Tarlac, Duterte went to Cavite to join Mayor Lani Revilla’s birthday concert at the Strike Gym, Bacoor Government Center on Saturday evening. (PR)
