LEGAZPI CITY – At least 231 policemen are undergoing specialized training prior to their deployment to the different provinces of the Bicol region to help ensure safe, orderly, and honest elections.

In an interview on Wednesday, Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, said the training is divided into four categories -- Search and Rescue Operation, Emergency Medical Response, Response to Active Shooter, and Crowd Management.

"The specialized training of police teams started on April 7, 2022, and is scheduled to end this coming April 29, 2022," Calubaquib said.

She said in partnership with the Commission on Elections in the region, the Bicol police vows to enforce the rule and law to guarantee every Bicolano an honest electoral process.

“This training will also enable the police to better fulfill its sworn duty and also gives assurance to the public from violence and intimidation by groups during elections,” she added. (With a report from Bernadine Carretyas/PNA-OJT)
