No casualty, damage in 6.2 magnitude quake in DavOr town

DAVAO CITY – The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that jolted Manay town in Davao Oriental Tuesday morning left no casualty nor damage on properties, the Davao Oriental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) said Tuesday.

In a statement, PDRRMO said they conducted continuous monitoring for possible aftershocks.

"Continuous coordination with the local DRRMO operation center were also done for impact assessment," it added.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor was tectonic in origin, occurring at around 9:23 a.m.

With a depth of 18 kilometers, Phivolcs said intensity IV was also felt in Tarragona, Lupon, and Mati City, Davao Oriental, and in Hinatuan and Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

Intensity III was also felt in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Cateel and Baganga, Davao Oriental; Tandag City, Surigao del Sur; and Davao City.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Davao Oriental's PDRRMO said its operation response team is on standby for possible deployment. (PNA)
