MANILA – Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso has warned the public against immediately believing reports of irregularities in the overseas absentee voting (OAV) after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) tagged as “fake news” a social media post that showed an OAV ballot in New Zealand without the name of a certain presidential candidate.
Domagoso said the best way to spot real news as against fake news is to analyze carefully what you are reading, hearing or watching.
But, he said he is confident that Comelec can do its job in protecting the sanctity of the ballot in the May 9 elections.
“I think they're doing their job and I continue to believe in the Comelec as an institution. There are sensible and reliable people in Comelec. I believe in the system, and I will continue to believe in the system. That’s how you do it. You must believe, you must work within the system. You cannot take the lead and not believe in the system,” he said during his sortie in Kalibo, Aklan on Tuesday.
The Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate warned that the Philippines and its more than 110 million citizens that we will never achieve progress if infighting among the powerful elites, specifically those coming from the “red side and pink-yellow side” persists.
After barnstorming San Jose Buenavista, Antique, which is the hometown of the Domagoso clan, the Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer and the rest of Team Isko traveled to Aklan for a series of courtesy calls to government officials and town hall meetings to woo voters.
Team Isko is also scheduled to barnstorm the island-province of Guimaras and Negros Occidental on Thursday where motorcades and town hall meetings will be the main form of campaigning.
A concert-rally is also set in Bacolod City.
If he wins the presidency, Domagoso said he will address poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, and social injustice through an inclusive and equitable infrastructure development program as spelled out under his 10-point Bilis Kilos Economic Agenda.
To achieve this, he said he will continue the "Build, Build Build" program of President Rodrigo Duterte, with a focus on building more public housing, more public schools, and more public hospitals across the country to create more jobs and opportunities for our people.
To further alleviate the plight of the masses and protect industries, Domagaso said he will work closely with Congress to reduce the taxes on two of the most basic of commodities -- petroleum and electricity. (PNA)
