CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Tourism in Northern Mindanao (DOT-10) Wednesday identified eight tourist circuits in the region as part of its “Colors of Mindanao” campaign.

DOT-Region 10 Director Marie Ellaine S. Unchuan said tourism operations have made a soft comeback on these circuits covering ecotourism and agri-tourism sectors.

"An example will be the agri-tourism circuit of CDO (Cagayan de Oro) to Bukidnon, where the village of Taglucop in Kitaotao town is the last barangay and has strawberry farms there," Unchuan said.

Since Kitaotao sits on the border of Region 10 and the Davao Region, Unchuan said the area could be developed into a strategic place for tourists to do cross-border visits especially since there are vacation houses and farm resorts in Davao City's border village of Buda.

Other tourism circuits include religious pilgrimages located between Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental, as well as the diving tourism destination in the neighboring Camiguin Island.

DOT's Colors of Mindanao project aims to highlight inter-regional tourism destinations, culture, and food, Unchuan said.

The project also aims to boost local products as well as emerging tourism markets.

In identifying tourism circuits under the program, Unchuan said they have consulted stakeholders from the tourism and private sectors.

"We explained the portfolio to the tour operators and asked for their feedback," she said. (PNA)
