MANILA – The Makati Life Medical Center, formerly known as Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) 2, received a Public-Private Healthcare Partnership of the Year Award from the Healthcare Asia Awards, spearheaded by an industry magazine that caters to Asia’s hospital owners, investors, administrators, and policymakers.

The HealthCare Asia Awards honors hospitals, clinics, and other health care providers in the Asia Pacific Region that have risen above the challenges and made a remarkable impact on their patients amidst the massive disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recognized were the hospital’s promising construction projections and its vision to become known globally as a transformative healthcare collaboration between the local government and private sector.

So far, Makati Life is the country’s biggest public-private partnership hospital built through a joint venture agreement between LifeNurture Incorporated and the city government.

It will be equipped with 360 beds and has multiple specialty centers to be rolled out in phases.

It is located along Malugay Street in Barangay Bel-Air of the city’s first district and is expected to be partially operational by the first half of 2022 with the opening of a 24/7 primary and urgent care facility.

In-patient services using the first 100 beds may start by the end of the year. Completion and full operations are targeted by the first quarter of 2024.

Makati City contributed PHP2.77B to the construction while LifeNurture obtained a total of PHP7B in equity and debt funding for the project.

In a statement Friday, Mayor Abby Binay said Makati will make health care services more accessible even without a pandemic.

“We are honored to accept this recognition of the city’s efforts to continuously enhance the quality of public health services in Makati and make sure these are always available and accessible to all Makatizens,” Binay said. (PNA)
