ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) deployed Monday its mobile “Bakuna” bus to boost the vaccination program of the local government.

PRC Project Bakuna Head Mylene Baidiango said the mobile vaccination bus will be fielded in the city for two weeks, in line with PRC's commitment to support the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) through vaccination of the eligible population.

The PHP2-million Bakuna Bus is loaded with supplies for vaccination, a tent, speakers, and equipment used for taking the vital signs of a patient. It traveled from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and conducted mobile vaccination over the past several weeks.

PRC-Zamboanga Chapter Administrator Josephine Fernandez, Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, and City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite inspected the bus before its deployment.

“The Bakuna Bus from Red Cross stands ready to support Zamboanga City to vaccinate Zamboangueños,” Fernandez said.

Salazar said the bus will be assigned to strategic locations, specifically far-flung areas to vaccinate Zamboangueños.

The vaccination activity, as well as the schedule, will be coordinated between the PRC-Zamboanga Chapter and the City Health Office.

As of April 23, a total of 1,323,366 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in this city as the local government continuously boosts vaccination of the target population.

Of the total number, 671,984 are for first doses while 651,382 are second doses. (PNA)
