MANILA – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) said it will resume full time its vaccination campaign after the celebration of the Eid’l Fitr.
NCMF Commissioner Jamal Munib said the vaccination drives against Covid-19 must continue after celebrating the end of the month-long Ramadan and the non-working holiday on Tuesday,
“Naipaliwanag ko na po sa kanila ang tungkol sa pagbakuna at unti-unti na po nawawala ang mga maling pagkaintindi o kaya mga misconception about sa pagbabakuna, especially iyong mga fake news na lumalabas (We already explained to them about the vaccination and the misunderstandings and misconceptions about vaccination are gradually disappearing, especially the fake news),” he said at the “Laging Handa” public briefing on Monday.
Even amid Ramadan, Munib said some Muslims responded to the call to avail of vaccines.
Munib said they explained that vaccination will not nullify their fasting.
In the earlier days of vaccination, Muslims thought the Covid-19 jab contains a derivative that is prohibited by Islam.
So far, there are 67.8 million Filipinos fully vaccinated against Covid-19 nationwide, with more than 13.3 million already with the first booster shot and nearly 7,000 immunocompromised adults with the second booster dose.
Munib said no untoward incidents were reported during the Ramadan.
“So far po, Alhamduliliah (praise be to God), thanks to Allah, ang lahat ng ito ay naging mapayapa po at wala po tayong mga untoward incident. At least iyong minimum health protocols na napatupad po natin sa mga congregational prayer natin (So far, thanks to Allah, all of these are peaceful and there is no untoward incident. At least the minimum health protocols are being implemented during our congregational prayer),” Munib said. (PNA)
