ILOILO CITY –  The UniTeam of presidential candidate former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and vice-presidential frontrunner Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte reiterated their call for the nation to unite as they hold the first of their three grand rallies in Guimbal, Iloilo Province on Tuesday.

Marcos said they did not make a mistake in choosing Iloilo province for their "Miting de Avance" for Visayas, telling the jampacked crowd in the over four-hectare football field their priorities should Ilonggos trust them with their votes in the coming May 9 elections.

“Sa lahat po ng ating ginagawa pinapaalala po natin sa taong bayan na ang pagkakaisa ay napakahalaga at ito po ang unang hakbang upang tayo po ay makabalik. Gaya po ng mainit na pagtanggap ninyo dito sa Guimbal ganun din po ang init ng pagtanggap sa mensahe ng pagkakaisa (In everything that we do, we always remind the public of the importance of unity as the first step for us to bounce back. Your warm acceptance of our message of unity is similar to the warm welcome you gave us here in Guimbal),” he said.

Duterte, on the other hand, said that Marcos never talked to groups that aimed to overthrow the government to win the elections.

“Bongbong Marcos will never sleep with the enemy of the state, never,” she said.

For the past 90 days that they have been campaigning, the two have laid down their priorities which are jobs, quality education, and a peaceful community.

She added that they will pursue the "Build, Build, Build" projects that brought peace and development and also will push through with the anti-criminality campaign of the present Duterte administration.

Duterte also told the people that she might not be the best or the most intelligent candidate for the vice president, yet no one can beat her strong resolve when it comes to making difficult decisions for the position and the country.

The "Miting de Avance" for Mindanao will be held in Tagum City in Davao del Norte on May 5 and Parañaque City for Luzon on May 7. (PNA)
