MANILA – The camp of presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to hold a meeting to discuss the presidential transition process and moving forward from the election.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Marcos' spokesperson, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, said they will hold the meeting today to deliberate on the composition of the transition team and the agenda of the incoming administration.
"Ngayon lang kami pormal na magmi-meeting at pag-uusapan yung mga bagay na patungkol sa (Only now will we formally meet and talk about things related to) incoming president-elect Bongbong Marcos administration," Rodriguez said. "Pag-uusapan namin yung kanyang transition team, 'yung pagbuo at yung mga things to do (We will talk about his transition team, the formation and the things to do)."
Rodriguez, however, noted that they have not received any formal communication yet from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte regarding the transition to the presidency.
For the potential Cabinet members under the incoming administration, Rodriguez said they have not discussed the composition yet as the Marcos' camp is still busy with election work.
"We were expressly advised by president-elect Bongbong Marcos during the campaign period and all the way until election day not to allow ourselves to look beyond May 9 and today is only May 11. Yesterday puno ho kami ng pag-asikaso parin ng mga trabahong may kinalaman sa halalan kagaya ng paglikom ng mga election results, at kagaya na lang din ng pag-asikaso ng mga doon sa poll watchers namin, yung mga precinct workers na nag-volunteer (we were still busy taking care of election-related jobs such as collecting election results, and taking care of our poll watchers, the precinct workers who volunteered)," he said.
Rodriguez said several individuals have already signified their readiness to serve the incoming administration under Marcos.
“But again we did not allow ourselves especially President-elect Bongbong to look beyond May 9 because that is his character, that is his person. He is unassuming, he doesn’t assume anything and he tries not to pangunahan ba ‘yung mga kaganapan. Kailangan sa kanya sakto at empunto yung aming ginagawa (anticipate what will happen). we need to be accurate and exact in what we are doing),” Rodriguez said.
The partial and unofficial tally in the presidential race consistently points to an overwhelming win for Marcos, with more than 31 million votes, more than double the lead against Vice President Leni Robredo with 14.8 million, based on the 98.26 percent of election returns processed. (PNA)
