CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment Region Northern Mindanao (DOLE-10) opened some 3,600 job opportunities in Northern Mindanao as part of its economic recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview on Saturday at the podcast of the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Northern Mindanao (CORDS X), DOLE-10 Director Albert Gutib said 122 local employers participated in a job and business fair on April 28, a manifestation that the region is gradually recovering from the pandemic.

Sixty-one applicants were hired on the spot while 581 were near-hires.

"The near-hires are qualified but they need to submit additional requirements or do final interview," Gutib said.

As of Saturday, DOLE has provided livelihood assistance to 3,307 beneficiaries through the Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program.

The agency likewise provided emergency employment to displaced workers, including those affected by Typhoon Odette in December, under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.

Gutib said DOLE-10, through the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, has also been conducting public hearings on the minimum wage petition for increase. (PNA)
