MANILA – About 99.93 percent of persons vaccinated against Covid-19 did not experience adverse events following immunization (AEFIs), a health official said Tuesday.

In an online media forum, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said only 0.07 percent out of the 146 million jabs administered were reported to have mild AEFIs.

The top five vaccine reactions included pain on the injection site, headache or dizziness, rashes, body pain and temporary increase in heartbeat.

“Ang mga ito ay agaran rin namang nawala kaya ano pa ba ang inaantay natin, magpabakuna na po tayo sa lalong madaling panahon parang maging protektado sa Covid-19 (These symptoms were gone quickly, so let’s get vaccinated and be protected against Covid-19),” Vergeire said.

As of May 16, about 68,665,070 million or 76.29 percent of the country’s target population (90,005,357) have been vaccinated against Covid-19, including 77.12 percent of 8,721,357 senior citizens, since vaccination began during the first quarter of 2021.

As of May 15, a total of 13,620,199 have received booster shots out of the total 68,665,070 who are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, about 33,000 have been vaccinated with their second booster shot. However, over 40 million are yet to receive their first booster shot. (PNA)
